9 volts

What would be the best method to create 12volts from two (or one) 9 volt battery. I'm thinking a zener diode or a 7812. But am not sure how to incorporate them into the circuit. Thanks all!

For one battery, use a charge pump IC - pretty simple to set up, plenty of info on the forum and the best resource: datasheets.

For two batteries, use a LM7812. Really simple to set up, just put the 18V on the input, battery (-) on the ground, and tap the 12v across the output and ground. Again, plenty of info here and the datasheet.

Why do you need the extra 3 volts? It seems like it wouldn't be worth it, i.e. you could get by with 9 or just go ahead and up it to 18. Of course, it totally depends on the context of the circuit

have a look at the Ibanez AD80 schematic. It does exactly this with a voltage regulator.

Thats exactly what I was looking for. Thanks alot
