Problems with GGG BMP green russian variation

This is my first build and first time ever using a soldering iron. The bypass works just fine, but as soon as I engage the circuit it goes totally silent. I've checked all my solder joints to make sure none are touching and that they're all uniform. Everything checks out as I assume fine, but again I'm new to this and it doesn't work so obviously there's something wrong! These are the readings I get on the transistors:

Q1
C = 6.25
B = 0.67
E = 0.09

Q2
C= 0.25
B= 0.86
E= 1.53

Q3
C = 1.36
B = 0.86
E = 0.25

Q4
C= 1.19
B= 1.67
E= 8.95

Which according to the readings here are not correct. However, since I'm totally new to this I don't even know how to go about fixing this, or what is causing these readings to be so wrong.

Any help?

OK. I see many things wrong here...

First, Are you using 2N5089 NPN transistors like the layout calls for? If so, then you are either reading your voltages and posting them wrong OR you have your transistors in backwards. Q4 should have the higher voltage on the COLLECTOR... NOT the EMITTER! If you look at JDs layout for the BMP Green, Q4's emitter is the BOTTOM leg!

My advice to you (as I mentioned in your initial post regarding this) would be to read over the following thread:

http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=29816.0

Then, go to Google (it is your friend!) and type in 2N5089 and read over the datasheet for the pinout.

Finally, make sure you have your transistors installed properly.

Good Luck  ;D

I thought maybe they were backwards as well, but my circuit looks identical to the one in the picture I linked in the OP. Even if I was mixing up the collector and the emitter the readings are still not very good am I right?

What kind of transistors are you using? 2N5088, 2N5089, etc.?

Did you perhaps wire your DC jack backwards? Are you using a CENTER POSITIVE adapter instead of a CENTER NEGATIVE adapter? Are you putting 9V onto the ground instead of the 9V input?

They are 2N5089s. I double and triple checked all the wiring multiple times and can't find any problems there. I'm not sure what a center positive/negative adapter is.

I'm not sure what a center positive/negative adapter is.

Are you plugging this into the wall or are you using a battery for it?

I've tried both with the same results.

Basically, unless you can put up a picture of your build, I would suggest that you measure your ground and your 9V input and make sure you DO NOT have them reversed.

You really should post a picture of your build (circuit board with the wiring) since you are so new to this. It would help out ALOT!

Should I wire up the pots too before I post pictures of it? I have everything wired up right now except for the pots because I had unsoldered everything to check the joints of the circuit, and just soldered up the rest so I could check voltages on the transistors.
