very simple passive line in mixer ????

hi guys, simple question really...

a friend asked me to make him a small,(passive) 2 x stereo input mixer with stereo out...

he wants to put a cd player in it and his minidisk....he wants to be able to just tweak the volume  balance between the 2
when playing then out into his amp.....very simple 4 pot jobby..

i looked at danos (beavis audio research) passive mixer / 500k pot /47k resistor setup...will 47k's be ok for 2 line levels?
or should i change the value of the resistors?..10k???

he definately wants it to be passive, so thats why i went with this!..its a little birthday present for him.. ...thanks in advance!.. rob.
