I play in a stoner band and I'm looking to build a nice phaser. Something that can phase incredibly slowly with a moderatly strong sweep. Is there something simple I can do on a pcb, I'm trying to avoid something as complicated as those mxr 90/100 kits but ill do that as a last resort

Search for the Bad Stone thread, some nice boards (that I've been meaning to order  ) but I'm guessing that it's not any less complicated than a 90 or 100, the 45 is easy and I just built one but I don't think that it fits your criteria

I don't think you are going to find anything simpler than the Phase 45 and like it states above, it would not fit your description. You need to get a 4 stager or above to get anything "deep." You can always try an OTA based circuit like the Ross or the Bad Stone. At least you won't have to match FETs.

If I've interpreted you correctly, "strong sweep" usually means a strong effect.  With phasers, the more stages, the stronger the effect, so you're pretty much asking for something "complicated"

There ARE simpler phasers, but the thing is that if you want slow, you really need lots of stages to produce a strong effect.

Phasers are not THAT difficult to build.  Alternatively, since they are available everywhere 2nd hand, consider that they are also pretty easy to mod for more intense effects.

Regards build... in some ways it's simpler as there's none of that pesky FET matching but in build size and complexity, not so much, it is a nice paint by numbers board but that also doesn't mean it's gunna work straight off if you're a begginer or even if your not, tone wise, I'd say it can give a very nice strong slow sweep and can also go into weirder territories.

A Fabbed board will make life easier when it comes to soldering etc. though and the onboard pots means your less likely to make a mistake with wiring probably but you can also get fabbed boards for other Phaser project from Tonepad and a few other places i'm sure, perhaps the Phase Royal Phase 90 from here - http://www.buildyourownclone.com/phaseroyal.html it comes with matched FETs and everything else you need so perhaps it's not a bad choice when it comes down to it.

Phasers? Love em all....

The P45 will disappoint you. It did me, though some people love them. Far too subtle. I added two more swept stages to mine, so it's close to a script P90. The P90 is fun, got one on the breadboard now. Easy to get longer, slower sweeps by changing the 15uF LFO timing cap for a 47uF, and/or changing the 500k speed pot to a 1M. Replace the 22k (or 24k) regen resistor for a 12k resistor and a 10k pot and it can get slow and swooshy.

Might I suggest you consider my Causality? Not too hard to build and has vast range of sounds. Or you could go completely insane......

Build the 4ms Phaseur Fleur - i just built one - you can buy kits, just the pcb or a built up pedal.

that sh1t gets real deep, and really nails the slow stoner thing. not a simple build, but not overly complicated either - and no fets to match.

I don't get it either, there are tracking cookies on just about every site on the net.  A good spyware checker or settings in your browser can take care of that.  I think they're having a little private joke.
