While soldering some Ge trannys , I did the usual check for shorts only to find that they were ALL shorted! A visual check showed nothing . Then , checked adjacent tracks - more shorts . ????????
After a few minutes when my sanity was in doubt , a final visual check revealed all 36 tracks were shorted by a minute layer of copper along one edge . A few strokes with a file , all sorted!
I,ve never seen this before , but will bear it in mind in future . The board was from a supplier I know quite a few of us use - I won't mention the name because they offer great prices and good service - and I will continue to buy from them . I'll just have to be a little more vigilant in future .
Has anyone else experienced this , or can I claim a first ?  (If so , do I get a prize ? )

Yep. I'm having this issue now. Trying to get rid of it.  I'm guessing I know who the provider is, and I still love them.
Keep on keepn on.

I haven't see this on the strip boards from Tayda, but I have noticed that when I cut the boards with a miter saw (I know-overkill, but the saw is just sitting there and it does a nice quick job of cutting the board) sometimes there are little flecks of copper along the edge of the cut that could cause a short between adjacent tracks. A few quick swipes with sandpaper takes care of this.

I buy all my vero from there.

Me three (I source mine through Amazon.com).  I get the epoxy boards.  Always outstanding quality.

By the way, when I do a vero build, I check to make sure that all of my track cuts are sound and to look for shorts with adjacent tracks.  Takes a few minutes with a DVM, but I have greatly reduced my troubles from track cuts being shorted.  Then all I have to look for are cold solder joints and solder bridges... :P
