Is it possible to add a "compression indicator" LED to a Ross/Dyna clone?

I'm curious if there's any way to have a "compression indicator" LED added to the basic Ross circuit - essentially, whenever it's compressing/sustaining, light up an LED, with the brightness of the LED varying based on the voltage (i.e. smooth fade on/off). I've nearly finished designing a circuit board from scratch for a Ross clone with some mods built in, so I can add on-board components if it's more complex than just running an LED parallel to an existing component.

I don't even know if it would look good or serve a useful purpose - it's mostly just a curiosity/experimentation at this point!

havnt tried, but my first thought...LED from +9volt to source of a P-chanel FET. drain to ground and gate to the one leg of the compression pot.
the controll voltage in the sidechain gets translated to current through the LED. should light and dim with the varying voltage. possibly need a trimmer resistor in series with the LED. I'm guessing ~2k...might be way off thou..

EDIT: one thought...the amount of compression most people want for guitar/fx use is usualy so much, I dont think a representative LED indicator would seem to do much at all. it would probably just seem to go on and off with the signal. but it's easy to try and pennies to finance..
