Having some strange results from this Fuzz Face, I personally can see anything wrong with the wiring, so was hopping that you guys could take a little look?

worth pointing out the volume and fuzz knobs are the wrong way round, but I think wired up right......as far as I can see.

Here Is the layout used, and Iv always used with perfect results:

now the strange thing is......when switched on I get just a semi clean more of a light overdrive then fuzz until, I disconnect the highlighted ground wire from the volume pot to output & I get lovely fuzz but a huge amount of background noise.

Is the Tab on the Transistors the Collector...? If so it looks like they're in backwards.

Think the tab on the BC108C is the Emitter?

Ah, didn't know you were using BC108s... bad ground connection? Try Resoldering at the Jacks & The Switch.

peps1

checked all the ground, resolered the jacks a couple of times to double check for cold solders, and even switched out the switch and 500k pot....same results.  :(

Peps!, I believe you are using an issue 2 layout on an issue 1 board. switch the 330 resistor and the 33k resistor and you should be alright.

peps1

Pedal love, I think your absolutely right!!!
:icon_redface: :icon_redface: :icon_redface: Thats not even the first time Iv made this mistake!!!!

I will get my coat and leave.........TAXI

:D you really should make an issue 2 board. no more confusion!

peps1

:D no no no  a option of two board will only confuse me twice as much!  :D

but seriously, that about the 3rd time Iv bloody done exactly the same mistake and totally missed debugging it this year alone!

Iv now pined a sign to my wall so NEVER AGIAN!

Electric Warrior

But with an issue 2 board you'd actually have a REASON to use isolation on the bases when using BC108Cs  ;D
And why leave out the board when you're going for authenticity?  ???

peps1

OK....... your right, I will make some Iss 2 bards tomorrow!  ;)

ha! brainwash works!

an issue 2 board would be a great reason to build a BC183L fuzz face btw - but then again you wouldn't need the isolation..

peps1

You go any solder side shots of the iss2, feels like cheating just to use the iss2 transfer you did!
