so most distortions ive got tend to crap out when i tune my guitar down to A# tuning. Anyone got a distortion circuit out there that can hold itself together with out getting "woofy". It needs to stay tight at low tuning. Anyone able to help?

Big Muff. Any distortion that sounds good with Bass. Try the Buzz Box, or even just a Bazz Fuss to start. I actually like the crunch from the BF with my Db Dean in the humbucker neck position. Not great for soloing, but for some fairly heavy mutes and general rhythm work while gaining points on your man-card, it rocks. Try BF first, Buzz Box, and if you're digging on them, do a Big Muff. The BM will give you a new distortion with a bit more character than the BB, and I'm willing to bet you will find yourself using all 3 for different jobs.  ;D
Give a man Fuzz, and he'll jam for a day... teach a man how to make a Fuzz and he'll never jam again!

Most of the dropped tuning guys are playing tube amps.  Some modded, some stock.  I'll say it once and I'll say it again, the Soldano SLO overdrive circuit is a great place to start, but to say the least, it ain't no stomp box.

MOSFET CD4000 chip based circuits work well with drop tuning. Just install the input and inter-stage capacitors two times bigger value.

deadastronaut's 2-knob hi-gain pedal works good with dropped tunings-he built his to accomodate this.   Nice parts count.
