Shin Ei Companion Fuzz - please help

hi,

i recently bought a pack to build a clone Shine Ei Companion Fuzz pedal from General Guitar Gadgets. My friend helped me solder the parts together, everything appears to be correct according to the various diagrams etc that were provided but it doesn't work. There is no power and we are unsure of the best way to check what may be going wrong.

i've taken some photo's, can anyone who has built one before spot anything that may be wrong? or if you have any tips then please let me know.

I can see four places on the PCB where it looks like there should be components, but they seem to be missing.
