Skyripper and a Gristleizer... the new unholy alliance.

Hey all,

Well I went for it , and built a Skyripper. WOW... HOLY S**T!!! What a machine! Special note here, I'm running off a power supply, and not a battery. I found that I had to first adjust the BIAS pot to get 10 volts, and then bias the trannies. Initially, my power supply was putting out more juice, and it was impossible to bring the Q4 voltages down to spec. Once I figured out the problem, I readjusted everything, and also made a reference mark for the bias knob to keep me in line. The mark is below flat out, so I can also play with the voltage a bit here. I find 50K for the Bias a bit steep though, it will most likely get swapped out for a 25K in the near future. Once you get a hang of the knobs, you can go from a great fuzz to over the top occillations, and it does a GREAT ZIPPER!!! Before I forget, I used AC128 trannies that I got from a great guy on EBay. His name is Jan, and his EBay handle is elebcz. He's based out of the Czech Republic. He sell matched FF sets. They come in packaged pairs, with the gains clearly indicated. He's right on the money, no messing around.

I have the Skyripper set up to give me that between the chords overtone. That's the Grisleizer in the Ripper loop at the end.

the 50k bias is only necessary if you are going to feed the skyripper a heavily boosted signal going into it. 50k is needed to hold back all the awesomeness. i strongly recommend feeding the skyripper a fuzzed out boosted mangled signal. put some boosts into the loop as well.
