I'd like to try a Slicer.

And a Les Paul through a 100W stack at full tilt. No effects.

Try this clip, http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=9943131&q=hi&newref=1 . It's a Adrenalinn 2 through a Slicer. That's it. The A2 drives the Slicers clock via MIDI. It is the CATS ASS!!!

My BOSS GT-Pro is on it's way as I write. Can't wait to hook the 3 together, and sync the clocks together. It's gonna be wicked!

Cheers,

Call me a cynic, but this thread has a slight whiff of "what do folks really wanna buy" market research about it!

The crazy red-head in the corner shop?

Each time I look at Beavis's 'Fuzz Lab Jr', I think, "I have to do that."

Haven't done it so far though.

Other than that, a blend-able (BJT) Fuzz / (Op-Amp) OD box, or a sample / hold device - current abilities mean this would be a 'Solder-by-numbers' project...

Well, the intent was certainly never that.  I kickstarted the thread because I recognize that not everybody goes to NAMM or lives in a locale where all these great exotic new and old pedals and rack units permeate the landscape.  For instance, I don't think I've ever seen a Pigtronix unit in my city.  I've seen them for sale, because somebody bought one somewhere, but I've never been able to walk into a store and plug into one.  And in some instances, people might simply be shy to try out, or prohibitted from trying out, some of the fancier more expensive things they keep well behind the sales counter.  I know that, personally, my time in music stores essentially boils down to 15 minutes inserted between errands every couple of months, or a quick lunch-hour trip to the nearby storeto pick up a magazine or strings.  That certainly won't allow me to sit down and spend a leisurely 45 minutes putting a complex piece of gear through its paces.....but it sure won't stop me from wondering about it.

Similarly, there are folks here whose building chops and budget allow them to make simple things, but impede going beyond that.

Finally, there are people who attempt things, and maybe even succeed, or who buy things, and they would really like to know how or if what they made or bought compares to "an original" or a different version of what they made.

I can see where your suspicions might arise from, but certainly that was not the intent of the thread.

I've been wanting to build a replacement IC for the SAD1024... out of digital ICs.

First idea is to build a 12 bit A/D using a FIFO as the storage device.  Then use a  12 bit D/A to output the resultant signal.  Package these into a small daughter board that would plug into an existing socket where a SAD1024 would plug into.  The other logic ICs shouldn't take up too much room and you could use the existing pedals clock source  to drive the A/D & D/A.

Second idea is to use one of these system on a chip ICs, i.e. Cypress Semiconductor  PSoC to develop everything inside the chip then do the same thing with a daughter board.

One of these days I'll do this, maybe when I retire in 20 years... oh wait, the national debt is in shambles, make that 30 years.

I think i've built all the pedals i'd ever use plus a few more. I've built a ring mod for someone else, but due to the chip not being available, i doubt i'll do more. It was fun but i don't think i'd ever use one.

I'm going through a pedal hiatus... First because there have been more bills than usual, not leaving any money left for parts, and because i really don't know what to build. I'll probably do a tube amp instead.

I'd like to try the Decimator that people here are reverse engineering, but it's a bit pointless since i already have the ProRack G.

The Fender Fuzz/Wah pedal. It seems interesting, but given that I'm a bit spastic on wah, I'd hate to inadvertently rotate the pedal which adjusts the fuzz.
Anyways, feedback on the sound quality is appreciated.

I have several items on my build list: modularized inductorless wah system that uses any one of a digital sequencer, theremin, regular old pot or expression pedal as the control, the echo base, a sansamp gt2, etc.  First I have to finish my guitar room, three guitars and repair my tube amp, though, so those probably won't come for a while.  I kind of miss being able to sit down and finish a project in an evening or two.  I'll take a break between batches of guitars, I think, and bust out the etching supplies and board stock.

A MuTron flanger. Mark Hammer's Anderton Hyper Flange+Chorus (sorry Mark, I just had to...). :icon_wink:
A Roland GR55. Until last week when I got tired of wishing and just bought the thing.
Best $850 I ever invested in gear. It really is that good.

meh, try everything once except incest and line dancing

I wouldn't try it with a dude, but if it was a case of quid pro quo with a hot chick, who knows?  :icon_lol:

Or a whammy! Maybe I'll screw around with a FR-equipped guitar next time I visit the store

It's hard not to get segued into sex 'n money these days..
seems a natural consequence that a concept should be worth something.
For me this topic is about things that haven't been tried:
Borrowing from oil pan drain plug technologies and applying that to brake caliper and wheel cylinder bleed-valve: premature obsolescence. There's 1 excellent example...I gotta million of 'em.
Mostly they tend to involve concept hoarding, ie stuff that hasn't been tried that I know of:
   Musical instruments.
  Musical instrument effects.
   Musical instrument effect controls.
And the current bottom line is firmly held by:
   Star-related 'power direction' hardware.

Convention creates following, following creates convention.
