I found this site while looking for a 1500 mHy air core coil for a Varitone I am adding to a very nice Jap Epi Elite 63 Dot ES 335 VS. I saw a lot of other people seeking the same item for Wah Wahs and other items. :-\ I then checked a link to Small Bear, and saw a shielded empty bobbin. :icon_idea: I go to a surplus store(s) a lot, and had seen this same part, but wound with 26 gage wire and it had 8 leads coming off it. I bought one to test and see if I could use it. Nope. ??? I stuck it in one of my many junk boxes and kept it. When I saw what Small Bear was selling, I dug this thing out, and got some 38 gage wire I had bought at the same place. I NEVER thought I'd use either of these items, but when I got the thing wound and set at 1508 mHy on my LCR at 1KHz a friend saw it and now its in his guitar, and I have made another one Stereo double mounted back to back. I can't get any scale on Small B's item, but mine has two mounting holes that mated with the bolts holding the deck on the rotary switch. The shielded cover works superbly well. Sometimes when we can not find some goofy specialty part either break out the check book, or make it yourself. I found a 6Hy tapped at 2 Hys?? Whatever. I think the small Mouser Transformer Anderton used in a project wired with the windings in parallel would work, but this is way cleaner, and having stuff rattling around in a semi-hollow body $3000+ guitar is not cool at all. I was ready to drop $4K on  Gibby, but the Epi Elites are NICE, and if I customize it the collector crowd is less ticked off at me.LOL These should cover a variety of wah pedals and other tone shaping circuits! I can see a Gibson SG 100/200 amp type Equalizer made with these too.   I am unsure what the maximum L is on this bobbin size, but two back to back in series will double that. Winding went so well using my pick up winder, I think a drill motor and bolt would work well in a pinch ;)  My next post shall be about spell check and technical writing. ::) LOL Happy New Year, and I do not frequent these sites, but this was a cool little happening with this coil. :icon_mrgreen: I bought that useless crap like 8 years ago! See why I never throw anything away! :icon_twisted:  The coil bobbins are still there.  :icon_biggrin:
