Photocoupler recommendations

I have the tiny tremolo on a breadboard but am having no luck with finding  a good LED/LDR combination. For some reason the matching process turned to be harder than I expected.

For that reason I am looking to purchase a photo-coupler (Vactec or Silonex). My next project is going to be the Tremulus Lune tremolo and the photo-coupler has to work there as well. I am new to photo-couplers and looking for recommendations which is the best brand/model to work in both  pedals.

Thanks!

How so? What's not working?

You need a DARK room. Battery and resistors for the LED. The LED lights (?). You need an LDR and an ohmeter. LDR is high-high resistance in DEAD dark, close to 1K in BRIGHT light (?). Now put the LED and LDR together in a dark room (or box). As you move LED toward LDR the LDR resistance drops (?). As you change LED resistor from 10K to 1K, same distance, the LDR resistance drops (?).

Why are you "matching"? Simple trem project does not need "matched pairs/quads". You find an LED current (brightness) which gives a nice medium resistance on the LDR, a resistance which is also medium to the trem amplifier. Both LED resistor and trem amplifier resistor are adjustable to suit whatever LED and LDR you have.
