Saturation Control - Volume drop - Any Ideas?

Hi everyone  :)

I'm currently working on a high gain distortion circuit with a section that clips the signal with a pair of diodes to ground. I'm planning on adding a saturation pot to control the amount of clipped signal (as shown below)

The issue i'm facing is that this pot (VR1) affects the volume (the non-clipped signal is louder).

My question for you guys is what it the best way to implement this saturation control but keep the volume roughly constant across the movement of VR1?

Is there a specific reason the interaction is a problem? Can you not just adjust one then the other?

the  saturation control works 'basically' like a clean blend, so when you adjust to full clipping the signal will be the size of the diode conduction voltage, when at the other extreme, the signal will be practically unclipped and you'll get a louder 'mostly' unclipped signal.
so the volume difference is inherent in this type of control...
all i can think is to go to muzique.com and look up warp controls, there may be a variation there that does what your looking for. there are a bunch of diffrent configs for a saturation control at that site.

Dual gang pots baby!
One adjusts the clipping one adjusts the volume simultaniously.

Thanks, I'm just looking through these warp controls now, there looks to be some interesting stuff here.

Yep that works fine and isn't too much trouble really, I was just wondering if there was a more elegant solution.

Cheers John, this might just be it, I'm certainly going to try with some of these  :)

Thanks for all your replies guys!
