There's lots of them.
Just search the forum for '386' and start digging.

thanx man, yeah im kinda new here so slowly getting used to the forum

ok so i found the smash drive quite interesting

i got this layout

i'll try and breadboard it tonight with the stuff i got down my hands..
is this thingy modable btw? like adding clipping diodes or trannies.. idk im trying to get into really understanding how the thingies work and i found moding is the best way for me :)

From what I gather, clipping diodes aren't the greatest idea on a 386.

You can also add a transistor or FET stage to the front end to drive it harder, and it can drive most any tone stack.
I remember a long-ago magazine article where a guy cascaded two 386's  :icon_eek:

Lots of stuff to try, keep digging...

alright i guess i'll build the smash drive and then try out the bastard sister i guess :)
sounds neat mm some neat playing on the clip btw ;)

the smash drive seems to have less components so that's the reason it gets to be the first XD
tell me about the buffers please.. can i use 2n5457?? i aint got j201 and getting it here is pain in the ass

The 2N5457 was the FET of choice for a lot of pedal folks before the J201 came into vogue, so I think you'll be OK.

Check out the Hotcake. That's a great LM386 overdrive/distortion pedal. I think it is the only pedal on my board that has stayed longer than 3 years other than my tremolo.

ahh yeah i got it actually from Germany to substitute j201
tho teh reason iwas asking is cz i built grace and it didnt work for some reason  ???
as for the Hotcake.. found a few schemes or something but can't quite figure it out any PCB layouts??
now this http://analogguru.an.ohost.de/193/schematics/Crowther_Hotcake-1977.gif
the pots symbols look a bit different... are the y different or is it quite the same??
and the drive pots lugs are like 1-not connected, 2-coming from the R6 and 3-ground? i dont see how it would work (sorry if this is a stupid question here)
and if i get it correctly the R10 R11 C5 C6 C8 are just for the mid lift meaning these can be eliminated?

also found this http://www.experimentalistsanonymous.com/diy/Schematics/Fuzz%20and%20Fuzzy%20Noisemakers/Parallel%20Universe%20Schematic%20(old).gif

and i've already read some stuff about it.. looks quite promising as well. im thinking of eliminating some stuff like the gate and starve pot (i dont get what it does tho.. is it like a dying battery sim?) and the output vol and tone.. teh oscillation part as well leaving it quite naked.. if it works and i like it i'll add the oscillation thingy. i like that sort of stuff :)

so which should i start it with? :D

EDIT: the schematic says its tl071 or something not LM386??

The Tufnel pedal is (2) 386 chips in series.  More distortion than anyone will ever need... sounds like a smash drive on steroids!

hell i do imagine what it would be like!!!

ok the other things i found pretty promising and cool to breadboard are http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php/v/Renegadrian/electradrian.gif.html

and

if the latter works out (and if i can get to try it out actually) it'll be more than cool! i really liked the clips on youtube
