Hi guys, new to the forum and pedal modding in general, so before i attempt a "full pedal build" i thought i'de have a mess around with a few pedals/circuit boards etc first.
Anyway, bought this dod pds 20/20 multiplay really cheap for a project - the leds were coming on intermittantly and on occassion i managed to get chorus and flanger sounds but most of the time some sort of weird modulation sound.
Anyways, stripped the pedal down and removed the circuit board - checked all the chips are tight etc but straight away i can see one of the orange 503 caps is broken and missing as you can see in the pic.Looks like their is supposed to be 27 in total.
Whilst i'm in there should i replace and upgrade them all (if so to what type) or just replace the damaged one like for like?
Also can anyone suggest anything else to upgrade seeing as the pedal is approx 20 years old at a guess?
Thanks,
Ad.

if it's broken, fix it.  You have to know the value.  Was "503" what was written on the cap?  Or is that what is written on all the other caps?  if so, you can find a replacement easily because that's the code for the value.

If someone gave me that pedal to "refurbish" i'd probably replace the electrolytic caps out of principle.  But if you replace the broken cap and it works fine, i'd say go with it.

Hi runmikeyrun, thanks for the reply -  yes 503 is on all of the caps - what do you suggest i upgrade them too?

no need to 'upgrade' them, just replace the broken one(s) and enjoy your pedal  :)
