I suggest getting a multimeter to check all your ground connections. It's a very quick exercise that can be revealing.

ok i do have a multimeter... how do i test the ground with it?? sorry im new to a multimeter

Set the multimeter to OHMS, usually shown as the greek letter omega (horseshoe lookin thing) to measure resistance. If you hold the probes together, you will see a value close to 0, which means low resistance of a short circuit. This is about the value you should see if you put the probes across any 2 ground points. If one ground point has a bad connection, it will show as a higher resistance or no value at all if it is completely disconnected from ground.
Give this a try and see if any ground point is not behaving, including connector grounds and pc board grounds.
