Hello all in DIY Stompbox land,

I'm taking the leap into the MXR M-117 build ..... and guess what! There are no SADs to be had. So I'm following the path that you all have so painstakingly cleared....the MN3007 retrofit.

Using the original SAD1024 pcb board design that is available on this site, and Fender3D's "redone" schematic incorporating the MN3007, I modifed the pcb drawing to include the IC retrofit and 15 VDC regulator.

My question is: before I embark on the "build mission", are there any issues with the original board design or the "redone" schematic that have come up? I would appriciate any feedback.

I would be happy to share the pcb drawing after I'm finished with the parts layout diagram.

Thanks,
Larry

I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

Nice undertaking!

Well I assume you have seen this thread - http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=78741.0

If it were me, i'd probably use the 4049 Buffered MN3007/3207 Conversion how Shadowmaster Did it.
With a couple of jumpers, it should be possible to have the board take both 3007 & 3207.

As you can see in that thread though, you might have to play around with the clock caps a bit, otherwise it seems good to go.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Sorry to raise this one from the dead. But how did this go in the end? I'm just about to set off trying to build Fender3D's schematic (due to SAD1024's now being rarer than rocking horse droppings so I can't go with shredaholics layout).  Just wondering if anybody has the PCB artwork/layout for this. I do have access to altium so I could put the schematic in and create one but that would be a very time consuming.

Thanks

Don't know if it's any help as you want an etchable layout but madbeanpedals offers a MXR-117 fabricated PCB with the MN3007 and a charge pump on board for the 15V supply from a standard 9V.

Yeah looking at the price even with international postage I'll most likely go for that option I think.

Thanks
