hey guys i am looking for an octave up fuzz

nothing really fancy.. can't get transformers either :( shrug
ok i'd love to keep it simple and build it with the stuff ive got around. ive got 2n3904 or 2n5088, some sil diods like 1n4001 and 1n914 some ICs like LM386, LM833 and TL071. and a lot of caps and  resistors

i thought of push me pull you but i remember i attempted it on my breaboard once and it didnt work... the only thing i changed was J201. i put a 2n5457...

any help?? ideas and suggestions

RG's Mu-Doubler is about as simple as it gets.

Make sure you read this first to avoid the heartache I had (the link also contains further links to schematic and layout - but read the thread before you build it!!!!):

There is the OUSB look in "schematics" link at the top of the page.

You need to adjust the gain control just right for the best results.

Something wrong with my hand-drawn schematic?

vendettav

yeah same here i really like straight forward schematics over the hand drawn

also by push me pull you i meant PUNCH IN THE FACE

i checked push me pull you and it looks pretty promising.. giving the reviews say trannies aren't picky here
has anybody built it?

Search the forum for pushme pullyou - you'll get more relevant threads by leaving out the spaces between those words.

Hi
the octup is simple and good.
Like all simple rectifier circuits it benefits from a booster in front to avoid gating small signals.  Schottky or Ge diodes help a bit, too.

i built the 'simple octave up' . its a nice one too. radio shack carries small transformers that some of these simple octavers use to rectify...

Pushmepullyou is great. Simple build, not picky about transistors, good octave up good range relatively clean to fuzzy. I haven't built every octave up out there, but that one I built a year and  half ago and still use it all the time.

pinkjimiphoton

this thing is crazy simple, and sounds great...and the price is right if ya don't wanna dick around too much.

the schem/etc are in the 18volt question thread...uses some pretty stock parts, and no transformer needed.

I built this recently, http://www.forrestwhitesides.com/node/91 . I posted a vero layout here http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=89190.0 . I wrote that it wasn't verified at the time, but I've built it since, and it works.

Simple build, low parts count, and decent octave up. Good and crunchy as well, typical for a 386 pedal. Bit of a cross between a FTM and a Scrambler.

Cheers,
Dino

Bobtavia is a simple easy to build octave. You can get all of the parts RS.

pinkjimiphoton

bobtavia is a great and simple build (i mean, i managed to build it on some perfboard) but at least on mine, it doesn't track the high e string as well as some others..

Yep, build it you won't be disappointed it's probably the most aptly named pedal ever. It goes from about as clean an octave up as you're going to get to pure fuzzy octave madness.
