mightier mouse mod on Rat turbo doesn't sound 'right'

Hi I have done this mod on a rat turbo.

The pedal has LED diodes as standard, so I have put 2 x 1n914's on one side and 2 1n34a's on the other with 2 x 2n7000 mosfet trannies  as i couldn't get IRF520's

The middle 'normal' setting is ok nothing has changed.
The mosfet side I haven't heard before so can't compare with any thing else.
The Rat side doesn't sound much like my Rat 2 or older 80's 'the' rat. It sounds less 'bright' or 'duller' side by side with the other 2. In fact I cant tell any difference between 'The' Rat and Rat 2 (I thought there was a big difference when I first got themmuch prefering the older Rat but I guess I've got used to them now) but the 'quality' of tone isn't as nice on the turbo rat in Rat mode. not sure how to describe it but the harmonics aren't the same I guess. Any suggestions/ideas or is it just down to other differences between the two circuits.

I was hoping they would sound the same then I could sell the Rat 2, store the older one and use this pedal as its should be more versatile.
