Yeah, great demo. Someone needs to do a fabbed PCB for this circuit, including the LFO mods. I really need to make one.........

thanks guys, i really love this pedal. i just used the schematic on tim's circuit snippets page, and added the lfo as suggested i think. pretty sure i put up the layout i used here on the forum somewhere, too...i'll try to find it, but it's a pretty easy circuit and works great. i think i subbed a pot with a different value to give more sweep, but other than that it's what tim drew up.

do you get any ticking at all from the 555?......

i may be wrong, but if you were to open up pin1  pin8  (edit on the 386), you could whack a gain in there too....maybe!!!! hmmmm..

no, no ticking...i think it's cuz the clock isn't really connected to the audio. or maybe it's so freekin' distorted ya can't hear it!!

that would be a cool thing to try, i haven't had much luck with 555's as fuzzes tho.

you gotta build one of these things!! there are sooooo many places where it can be used...surprising, cuz most demos of it kinda just focus
on the wack noise ya can get out of it.
but if ya mess with it, it can be really musical and beautiful, or completely horrible and deranged.

I completely concur with jimi on this sucker. One of the most interesting and versatile pedals in my arsenal. I've built a bunch over the last year, but this version of the Uglyface, and my version 2 of the Parallel Universe are still among my favs. Really wide tonal pallette. I almost wish that I could insert a loop into it (a la PU2 or Skyripper), so I could run a square chop trem signal through it as well. Now THAT would be cool!

Just found this video clip after months in the wilderness -  it really does this pedal justice and happy that the LFO and mods are getting built up. I have more on this pedal - it just keeps getting better. Need to re-visit what I've done and write it up - now includes variable shape control (not switched ramp up/normal/ramp down) and a variable switched filter.

dude, if ya take a couple minutes to work with it, you'll see it's a pretty savagely beautiful and useful toy to have in the arsenal.
my lame humble viddie barely lays creedence to a pittance of what this thing is capable of.
if i had to, i could (if i had the time to keep resetting the knobs) i could probably use it on every song i do usefully and musically in some ways.
this is a drop in the bucket...

every time i plug that puppy in, i get lost for an hour or two. you can make sounds wack and savage or subtle and slutty if ya want to. don't expect clean, tho, which is about the
only thing you WON'T get.

highly recommend the lfo version...really adds a lot to what the stock unit does.

does the "phaser toy" sounds of your youth even.

my reccomendation? build two. put one in a crybaby shell.

Great demo! Now I really have to move this one up on my build list.

How do you think this would sound with bass? My girlfriend is missing the sound of the distortion circuit that was in her GK Backline 115, and she's been unhappy with all the distortion pedals she's tried. (not gigantic-enough-sounding, she says) Would this need some re-voicing, or does it handle the low notes pretty well?

I've promised to eventually build her a Gristlizer some day, but this looks slightly easier and just as much fun to use.

i guess just double up the caps in the audio path for bass, like in every other "bass" version of a pedal i've seen.

i HAVE used it on bass tho, and it's pretty f'n sick!
