I will use 1 BAT85 , 1N60 for the diodes going to the resistors , and a BAT85 that is forward biased to ground .
I even have a switch to swap to 2 1N4148 and 1 1N4007 ...
Good or Bad idea ?
I'm not worried about blowing up LM386's , as i have never blown up an IC before and have tens of JRC386D's lying around . ( I believe that 220uf cap only needs to be 0.1uf .. right ? )
But the problem is , i have only been able to find ON/OFF footswitches
( Most parts that i used in my current OD project will be taken out , as it was chopping up signal instead of distorting , i hate it . )
Does anyone know where should i go to look for a metal box for pedals ( size about a distortion+ ) in singapore ?

correct me if i'm wrong but i think clipping diodes with 386 might sound like full crap.

The treshold voltage of the 1xLED and 2xSIDiodes probably measure at about the same foreward threshold, Ge being the lowest threshold of the three types of diodes mentioned.
Any of the Diode and diode combinations thresholds can be measured.

 ...fairly rugged devices...

Caps block DC, so it depends on what 'need' is defined as, the .1uf is X times smaller and will block HF's.

DPDT makes true bypass easy, and helps draw up understanding how circuit signal and bypass-jumper-wire routing makes it's way through separate poles for input/output and how the throws direct the jacktip connections to either the circuit board or through the jumper wire...  See GEO and GGG for bypass diagrams etc.
Electronic switching [triggered by momentary SPST] can be used to control the same routings for in/output [through the circuit, or bypass] via electronic bypass circuits at GEO, a bit more advanced [and a different set of circuit build requirements] than the 386 circuit build.
( Most parts that i used in my current OD project will be taken out , as it was chopping up signal instead of distorting , i hate it . )
This is referring to a different circuit which would have required having to be debugged?

Nope, Banzai and Aron Nelsons DIY stompboxes Store }, Smallbear are worth a check.

You'll probably want some gain/volume control in that circuit.

+1
remember that a 386 is basically a 'power amp' meant to drive a speaker, so it'll be slamming whatever comes after it pretty hard.
iirc they're like 1 watt or so, but thats still alot of juice to run into some things...

It will sound rather fuzzy - definitely way more of a fuzz than and OD, but it can sound quite nice.  Not necessarily "full crap".  I worked something up a while back using red LED clippers in a 386, playing with some stuff in the feedback network similar to the parallel universe.  It got into Fuzz Factory territory, and made all sorts of crazy oscillating noises.

But an OD, it was not.

well that's pretty much what i was thinking about by saying crap. lol well not the fuzz facotry stuff but i was just assuming hypothetically :) mmm also i saw he aint got the pin 1 and 8 connected anyways so it won't be super hi gain noise maker you know.

Well , so i decided against it already ...
I have many op-amps to choose from , ( as i have tons of them in my parts bin )
Single op-amps : 741 , TL081
Dual op-amps : 4558 , 5532 , TL072 , TL082 , 747 ,,,
Does anyone have a schematic 4558 or TL082 ?

try DOD250 or MXR dist on tonepad they're similar, maybe orange squeezer... a lot of dual opamp schems available
