Converting stomp boxes into onboard?

Hi,
I'm interested in the idea of converting stompboxes into onboard guitar effects--before anyone warns me, I'm going to use tiny effects like the Danelectro mini's and I'm planning to use a test guitar that is cheapo and not precious to me. I know I need to rout a space for the battery and snip off the jacks, but I need to know: where should I connect the in and out wires? How do I remove the LED? Should I try to keep the knobs or make it a fixed effect somehow? Any information or opinions  would be greatly appreciated.

pretty much the same wiring as when using them as a pedal i would think...

guitar out >into effect..then guitar socket out, into amp....

i presume those danelectros are not 3pdt switches, in which case you could swap the  foot switches for toggle switches on/off...and keep the leds too...just lengthen the wires to it..

would look cool....whether it sounded it might be another thing!....

Do you think I should attach the line between the pickup selector and the volume knob? That's sort of what was confusing me. Thanks for the advice, by the way!

hmmm.....i would come straight out of the guitars jack lead into your fx....then out of the fx to your jack out.....keeping the controls of your fx and your guitar seperated...

for maximum versatility....

others on here  may have better ideas on this though!...i'm no expert!...but thats what i would probably do ok...
