I can't decide whether to get the 5-knob or the classic comp. IS the attack, tone, and ratio knob really worth the extra $30 if I am using it for one style of music? The tone knob is supposed to be used to better match single coils or humbucker but I only want to use this thing with a tele. Ratio knob seems cool but I could work around that.

Are these knobs just fixed resistors in the classic comp schematic or did they add that to the PCB for the 5-knob comp??

I am on Dial-up and the schematics will not load.

They are useful for suiting the resulting tone to the needs of the instrument and player.  You are correct in that you may never need to change them again once the sweet spot has been identified.  But the question then boils down to what it is worth in your time to do the trial and error work that lets you find that sweet spot.  Having the knobs and pots means you don't have to futz around with trimpots or swapping out resistors, then re-assemble the pedal, test, disassemble, swap components, re-assemble, test, etc.  You may well never use them again, but if they are useful for finding an ideal setting, and then you tape the damn things in place, then it is money well spent.
