changing the "boost/drive" pot on a rangemaster

I recall someone out here saying that they liked a 25KA pot for the boost control on the rangemaster, while someone else had suggested that the 10KA pot is a lower-noise option.  Why would 10KA yield less noise, and how would swicthing to a 25KA pot change the sound?
