Hi, Im thinking about building a Ruby amp, and looking at placing it inside an old wooden vintage speaker enclosure that looks quite cool. I was wondering, will the close proximity to the speaker be a problem? Also, I cant find any details about what impedance rating speaker to use...

Thanks for your help,
Glenn

Proximity probably won't be a problem.  Speaker impedance can be 4 ohm to 16 ohm.  Actually seems to work best with 16 ohms, in my experience.  386 circuits can be prone to picking up radio interference, so you may want to consider sheilding or even build the circuit in a metal enclosure and put it inside the wooden box.  I built one inside an Altoids tin with notches for the wires to pass in/out and then mounted that inside the box.

I built one inside a speaker box with no noise/interference problems. The speaker is 8 ohms.
always think outside the box
