Hi

I've recently build the Causality 4 mk2 (http://media.photobucket.com/image/causality%204%20mk2%20schematic/frequencycentral/Causality4MkII.jpg )on veroboard ( http://www.sundgist.talktalk.net/Layout/Causality%204/Causality%204%20MkII%20Phaser%20Stripboard.gif ). FIrst I thought it is working alright, but when I start playing with it more I found 2 issues, which make me think, there might be a mistake somewhere.

I have recorded a short demo here http://soundcloud.com/lopsided/causality-demo
(starts bypassed, then with all pots at 12, then some adjustment to make the phasing more noticeable )

Now i have two issues

1, a noticeable volume boost, when switched on, is this intended or what could have caused this?

2. the nature of the phase shift seems a little asymmetrical to me. On one side it seems too fast. It can't be evened with the shape pot.
Now I have to say, this is my first phaser build and I have never really much played with a phaser before. So I would appreciate if someone could confirm that this is the right sound, or if I might have something wrong.

Thanks

I also measured the voltages , again all pots at 12:

There is a slight volume boost on that version. You can dink with the value of the 47K between pads k19 and r19 to get unity. Later layouts of mine use a 100k trimmer. I *think it's usually about 100k, but I can't remember.

To fix the lopsidedness (joke - hahaha), replace the 330k between pads v11 and x11 with a 220k.

Sorry I haven't looked at your voltages or listened to your demo, but I think my suggestions will get you there.

I listened to your soundclip. You've got the right sound.

I looked at the lfo on an oscope when I built mine and it did lean on one side, almost like a rounded off sawtooth.
I put a 220k in to replace the 330k like Rick said and it fixes it right up. Oscopewise it still has a bit of a bent leg on one side but not so your ears would notice.

This was my first phaser too. Hope you're enjoying it. It's one of my favorite builds.
All credit to Rick for this project, but I do get a sense of chuftedness (made up word) when someone uses a layout I made.

thanks a lot for your suggestions guys. I have just made them, and they seem to help in both issues.
Unfortunately I messed up the wiring, when I have taken it out of the enclosure, so I will have to rewire some pots before I can test it thoroughly and fine-tune the trimmer.
thanks a lot for the work you share!
