Great wah's as all way you two.
@joegagan=No guts?

joegagan

pauly thanks so much.

yes no guts at all, just a lonely straight gear poking down.

tom bought a bunch of wah parts from me so i threw in a little 'extra' for him.

i am now making replacement bottom plates for boomer/foxx/dearmond, which are seeing some action on the bay.

Hi All,

Nice "grunge-looking" finish there :) !

I have projects to present here, when I'll be able to finish and detail them correctly for you all... :icon_confused:

For the moment, I only had the time to work on a VOX V846-HW pedal (bought barely used for cheap, fortunately !) :

The original circuit and original schem :

The modified circuit and modified schem :

A sample of the modified version :

This pedal is worth to be modded... Very Soul/funk, indeed...

A+!
I apologize for my approximative english writing and understanding !

soundclip sounds great! the mod is nicely done.
does the pot in the handwired seem robust? vox has been putting poor quality pots in their v845s and v847s lately.

Indeed, I recently had a Vox 847A on the bench and took the opportunity to measure the pot. not only did the components seem flimsy in quality, it also had a weird taper.
it went from 0 ohms to about 12k from start to about 11 o clock, then suddenly jumps from 12k to 104.4k between 11 and 13 1/2 o clock, and from that point all the way to the end from 104.4k to only 104.5k.

joegagan

liqui, that is a pretty common wah taper. not so sure about the  0 - 12k part, but the rest is fairly normal.

the real problem is the durability.  the pot goes scratchy before  GC charges your MC.

i came up with a high quality pot replacement for the v845, i think it will also fit the v847.

IMO, the new Vox wah have a  poor and weak curve/timbre.
Man, I hate those SMD crap!

Cutting the 68k resistor to 34k increases the gain?
And doubling the 10n cap increases bass?

Just trying to see if I've got the idea of which components effect what....:)

That clip sounds great. Very smooth transition from low to high frequencies.
Mockingbird wish me luck.

joegagan

yes, lowering the input resistor adds gain. larger sweep cap lowers freq range.

I reckon germanium transistors have gains too low for use in a wah circuit, huh?
Mockingbird wish me luck.

joegagan

The early marshall supawah used ge trans. They sound great, at least the clone made by brad of creepyfingers did.

That wah looks pretty good Focalized! There's a 'Fulltonish' tidy-ness in the wiring. I like the colours as well :)

ch1naski

Agreed. Such a clean build, especially taking into account it's on perf board. Beauty.
Mockingbird wish me luck.

I did this today for a music shop owner. Just a stock GCB-95.

And the video of the dip:

I'm sorry sir, we only have the regular ohms.
