#280
input volume pot . has a treble bleed cap across the lugs for a wee bit 'o clean up when turning down. 390 ohm r to ground prevents user from accidentally getting no sound if turned all the way down.

Genius.
I need to do that to my freshly built wah with FET boost.
Mockingbird wish me luck.

How hard is it to remove the black paint from a Dunlop enclosure....worth the trouble?
Mockingbird wish me luck.

joegagan

the only way i would strip them is with a sandlbast/media blast setup. disassembled. on my relic'd wahs i just use a razor to carve away paint in key areas, then polish with a wheel.
the one in this latest pic started as a vox, no paint removal necessary.

Sounds like a lot of work, with tools I don't own. Damnit
Mockingbird wish me luck.

joegagan

adam carolla has the tools. dennis miller does not.

if you disassemble the wah, you can sand the paint down with a recip dual action sander ( harbor frieght $20)and prime the factory paint for a good result. no need to take it all off unless you are trying to buff the metal.
since around the late 80s, the paint is has bonded extremely well to these. there were some sorry times in the later thomas years where the paint did not bond well ( too much crank in sepulveda?)

a former bandmate of my brother who knew someone who lived in fullerton in the late 70s said that the fender factory was rife with meth.

Hey, Joe, does the tek bg2 mod leave the volume pedal section working?
Mockingbird wish me luck.

joegagan

Yes, i left the volume alone, works really well. With my ebay approved bg pot, it gives a slight boost vs bypassed via external tbp box.
I try to talk my customers into leaving the vol function because it leaves them more original. Might sound ludicrous in a modded pedal but all of the mods are reversible, non- invasive.

Also,as mentioned i like the volume pedal in them. You don't get full silent on heel down tho. Close to silent but not quite.
