Do you have a link to a tutorial on how to swirl that way?
I use the borax method for all of my swirls. I keep seeing the method that u used and am curious to try.

Here's a vid of how i swirl:

The swirl on the Fulltone is fantastic!

Thx guys!
The swirl is pretty easy! I painted the enclosure first (white) when it was dry i dripped on chunks of black and white oil based paint(?) and swirled it with toothpicks! Tried to be careful not to mix the paint into a greyish color.

joegagan

beros, that is very pretty. the color theme inside that wah is gorgeous. where do those caps come from ? did you etch the board and lay it out especially for those caps?

i always do a listening test before engaging the straight gear to make sure i am getting full range of the wah upon adjustment.

if the pot's taper is correct, there will be a fairly large 'full treble' area to allow runout for the switch to engage. this is why linear pots almost never work correctly without some sort of cam mechanism to alter the taper.

likewise, the bass side needs a small 'runout area' to keep the full bass setting from stressing the stops in the pot.

89k is fairly low, but it should work. it may be that the pot is faulty. try a replacement pot.

I tried to mess around with the pot, it makes more of a vocal sound turning it manually..
At some point it shunts all sound, moving the wiper to ground?
Ordered a new pot from smallbear, McCon O wah potensiometer. Hopefully this will be better :)

Thanks for the replies! You will hear from me if it doesn't work  :icon_lol:

I don't trace the distortion section, but as I saw seens to be some kind of ciruit like the Dime Distortion, 3 active eq bands, 1M pot for distortion and 20KD for volume.

@joegagan= Sounds F@#$ing great! I need to find a good boomerang layout. I tryed the noomerang layout but couldnt get it to sound right. Good luck with finding a buyer.

joegagan

thanks paulyy. appreciate you checking it out.

that one sold, as did the three that came after. thanks for the sentiment!

there is a stripboard layout floating around the web for boomerang. key points when tuning the circ:

a 500ohm trimpot at Q1 E to gd helps dial in gain and growl. adds lows.

replacing the input 68k R with a 100k trim lets you tune the input gain. this gets a different reaction than tuning Q1 emitter, and works well in tandem with it.

the 4.7k R off Q1 base on BG1 schems is a factory error. production Bg1s had 1.5k here, BG2s had 1k. i prefer 2.2k for a more musical sweep.

the 8.2k off of Q2 E can be replaced with 15k with good results.

all other factory values work pretty well. subbing 1 megs for the 820ks works fine as everyone has 1 megs in the their trickbox.

if you use a late model inductor ,, most are over 600 mh, try lowering the .01 sweep cap to .009/.008 or thereabouts to get the voice back in stock range.
