synth fuzz

hi everyone

first, i appologize if i'm not making myself clear, english is not my "mother language", so i'll try my best!

i'm kind of new to studying/building effects and during my long long days of research everywhere i've stumbled across "synth fuzzes" quite a few times.
i've searched everywhere, googled everything i could think of but never found any information about those circuits.
would someone be able to explain to me how they work? like some of the death by audio pedals, the rainger FX "dr freakensteain", or the "algal bloom synth fuzz". i believe there are oscillators inside but i can't figure what they do. i've seen a demo of the "dr freakenstein", it seems that the OSC pot acts like a tone, sort of, but i'm clueless.
if somebody knows about this, i'd like to understand. i'm not asking for schematics, just an explanation, maybe a block diagram with boxes and arrows (cause those are often easier to understand), or a link, i don't know, anything will be helpful!!

i think its like a fart machine... basically it wants to fart, but needs a signal to do it, so once you give it a signal, it farts along with it!
