Check my oscillator layout (please)

Hi there. After breadboarding both the Bazz Fuss and the Beavis Double Oscillator, I decided to feed the oscillator into the fuss.  :icon_twisted: I´ve made a perf layout, but I´m not sure that it´ll work.
Here´s the oscillator

And here´s the Fuss

And here´s my perf layout

Will it work? Are the components spaced OK? And will the IC heat nearby components?
Hopefully I´ll find out this and more shortly.

Thanks  :D

Edit: I´m fairly new to the whole DIY thing, so are the contacts too close together for a noob to solder?  :icon_redface:

Ok. Check the pins on the IC. All inputs that are unused should be connected to ground.
Use a 40106 datasheet as reference.

Really? When I breadboarded it I didn´t connect them to ground. Worked like a charm.  :icon_neutral:
I´ll breadboard it that way too and see.
Thanks!

That's just common practice. You'll not see any difference when you breadboard. Ground (or tie to V+) unused digital inputs.

QuoteSome care needs to be taken with the design of circuits using CMOS chips. Many parts offer multiple logic gates in a single package and it is common to not need all of them. An engineer who forgets to 'tie off' (connect the unused gate inputs to VSS or VDD through pull-down or pull-up resistors) may find the chip draws excessive current. T

My experience in the grounded v. ungrounded department was that the oscillator was much more stable when grounded.  When ungrounded, it tended to get a little crazy, and sounds couldn't be replicated with ease. This changed with grounding the unused pins.
Try a little tenderness.

Oh, OK. I did think the sounds changed a bit.  ::) Thanks for that!
Is everything else OK?
