I'm fairly new to electronics and stuff, but seeing as I have made my own custom guitar, custom guitar cabs, I thought about making my own custom pedals, So I'm about to start my first distortion stomp box, and thought of doing the MXR Distortion+ as it looks relatively simple.

I'm following this: LINK

So I got myself a list of materials, and went to my local Maplin.

Things were going okay, until I was asked the voltage of the capacitors... I gave him a blank look. Granted one is shown at 35v.

Does it matter what voltage is used?

The pedal runs at 9V , so anything more than that is fine .
If you are likely to get into this game , I would suggest you look at a few
other suppliers - Maplins tend to be pricey !
If your in UK , have a look at Bitsbox or Rapid , save a few quid .
                             Happy soldering !

You'd have a hard time finding any of those caps at too low a voltage. Get the smallest ones you can find and as long as they're 20V or more, you should be fine.
