High Z XLR output to plug direct into board??

Does anyone have a link or info on how to provide a balanced high impedance (Z) output via an XLR cable so a pedal can function as a DI box when recording?  I would like to have 2 outputs:  1) low Z to feed into an amp and 2) high Z to feed into the board.

Thanks!!

Look for the schem of a Hughes & Kettner Redbox, or just buy a Behringer GI100.

I have to agree with this. You aren't going to get much better than the GI100 without spending some pretty big bucks to DIY. A lot of folks turn up their noses at Behringer gear, but they have some truly incredibly pieces of gear given the price point.

Those are fine suggestions too, but I always recommend the Behringer or H&K because of the cabinet simulator.  DI's can be found all day long, but for what we use it for you really need a good cab sim or it all sounds like wasps.

Small Bear sells the Jensens for $85.  I noticed they also sell "Transformer 1:1 For Direct Boxes (Mouser #42TM018)" which is only $2.75.  Do you think this can be used in the same way?
