I'm want to take the preamp from this schematic for a bass and put it into a pedal, but i'm having some trouble getting started... could anyone give me a hand isolating the section of the schematic just for the preamp and its controls? Any help would be hugely appreciated! Also... are the forward slash looking symbols ground?

Thanks!!

It looks like you have controls from one end to the other - from tone control at the input to master volume at the output.  The only change that looks reasonable is to delete the stuff for the second channel if you are only using one channel.  That is all the circuitry around Q1B south of the dotted line (and the 100K at its output can go, too).  It looks like the transformer is there to provide a low-impedance line output.  You should not need it.  It appears that the D1 output connector and the battery are linked together through the jack for power switching.  There are a number of pedals where the battery is connected by the input jack, so the line going from the battery negative supply theough the switch to the wide pin on D1 can just go to ground.  Of course, if you intend to use a wall-wart supply, there are switching jacks available for that.  The D1 connector would be replaced by the output jack.

And yes, the forward slash symbol is ground.

PRR beat me to it although I'm not sure about that line below the master volume pot, probably just the copy/paste job.

The treble and bass pickups esentially have the same circuit attached to it bar one cap which you can probably just use a DPDT (or SPST even) switch to change the value of the "boost" cap if you so desire. Everything from the right of the master volume on the diagram just refers to wiring for DI and output jacks and I'm assuming you aren't concerned about the DI socket.

Other than that, follow PRR's diagram and you should be set :)

There's 100K from Volume, also 100K-2.2nFd-100K of NFB from the output of Q2A. You want to keep that, to set overall gain and something about "Attack" (actually a high-boost).

If you mean the teeny smudge... yes, that's a scar from the surgery.
