I am putting together a box of filter effects for the end of my chain. So far I'm going with a PWM, LoFoMoFo, and Harmonic Energizer. I think I can cram two or three more into my enclosure and I was wondering what everyone's favorite filter type effects were? Nothing is too weird for this new band BTW  :icon_twisted:

Favorite types of filters here? Some are swept.  Wah, and a Neutron for instance.
I'm constantly using HP and LP filters of course for fixed or adjustable voicings though.

the Q&D VCF from Tim Escobedo looks great, and so does the MS20 (Sallen-Key) 9V filter - I have not built these yet, though.

That's nice.  I was always a big fan of the Schaller wah-wah/yoy-yoy pedal.  What circuit are you using?

I can vouch for Tim's Q&D filter, sounds pretty nice on guitar. Not quite as pronounced as other filters, but I like the subtlety of it. I made a layout for it if you're interested. I'll post it on here since my original links got trashed with my last web overhaul.

Yeah, I have a first edition Schaller, but it's due for a cap job. The bow-wow, yoy-yoy is kind of weak. What you see there is the Colorsound Vocalizer. Look in the gallery, under "Dino's stuff". There's a verified vero, and build notes there.

Thanks.  Will do.  I like that.

Thanks for the suggestions   8)
Found those vero layouts too. Quick question, two parts. Can I just use the input from my guitar as cv for the qnd and will that give it an autowah vibe?

Plenty of ways to sweep filters.
The treadle is old fashioned, excellent way to get sweeps, the guitar 'pulses' can be made to control a subtle sweep or pronouced 'quack' every time a note is struck from 'no note'...ie input voltage rises when you whack a string, and this can be made to make a filter sweep up [or down], alternately you can hook up a bass drum or even an MP3...as long as the voltage swings are within' the parameters of what the filter sweep input expects.
Using LDR's and LED's, I had LEDs for autowah [sweeps up and down at a tempo setting], LED's for treadle sweep, and LED's for 'quack-wah' [input-amount makes the filter sweep].
Basically anything that can be made to make the filter sweep can be used as such...boosting or attenuating so the filter sweep range is optimized by way of the voltage input sweeps =ing may be needed to get the kind of sweep 'shape' and ramp-rates desired.
Putting a compressor in front of the control input of course controls gain of 'hard picked' notes and will change the ramp-extremes, shapes and rates...fun to try also.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

That would be great the only pcb layout I have for this is unconfirmed and I never got the knack for vero in spite of my atttempts...Please post!

Thanks for the ideas guys! I appreciate yall taking the time to share thoughts, currently playing with the mxr blue box to see what makes it tick. I'd love an octave down option
