I'm almost done with my "neoctavia" build from tonepad; http://tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=85  They recommend using a 4TM022 transformer from mouser; http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Xicon/42TM022-RC/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMv0IfuNuy2LUaR7iCoLh1pOqvQ%252bUAwdFkk%3d  But,I went with a radioshack transformer instead;http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103254  I read somewhere that you can use one of these too.My problem is there's red, white, blue, black, and green wires, and i don't know where they're supposed to go on the board.I uploaded a pic of my build so far on photobucket; http://s1143.photobucket.com/albums/n628/soupbone71/?action=view&current=neotaviapcbboardandtransformer.jpg  You can see at the bottom of the pcb where the transformer goes it says,,"primary".There's 6 holes and 5 wires,so I'm guessing one the holes isn't used.Just need to know where the wires are going. :icon_redface:

I'm not sure that the transistor you're using is really the correct one for the job.
The primary is a little low, but that's ok, however the secondary is too low at 8ohms. The Mouser part I've used successfully in my build has a 600ohm secondary. It's also stupidly cheap.

However, on the transformer you have, the white/red pair are your 8-ohm secondaries. Wire one of them to C6 on your board, and the other to ground. You'll have to get the DMM out to find out which of the remaining wires is the centre tap. Wire it up, and report back on how well it works!

I think i read that you can use the rat shack transfomer from the "bobtavia"layout which is what i heard the neotavia was based on.I'm going to try it out and see how she does. :icon_biggrin:

Hmm, guess I didn't read read your post fully first, but I think it all still applies.

Since you have the transformer, you may as well try it.
