so...i bought 10 of these bad boys for the colorsound vocalizer build me and dino did...

what the hell else are they good for?

don't really care to build a dynacomp, which seems to be the prevalent use for these.

anything sick/twisted that i can do with 'em?

does anybody NEED one?

enquiring minds (well, mind) wants to know!!! ;)

They are functionally the same as an LM13700, so anything you can find that uses one of those, you could also build with CA3080s.
e.g., Rick's causality phaser.

CA3080 are a little different to LM13700, no buffer, and iabc is one diode drop as opposed to two for the LM.

....also good for voltage controlled filters. and maybe a ring mod type circuit too. Or I'd take some if you're selling.

Well, yeah, if you want to go that far then the package has 8 pins versus 14, but that wasn't really my point... The actual OTA is functionally identical- no one cares about one diode drop.
