I've been looking for suppliers of enclosures available in the UK.  Who do people recommend?  Seems the standard size is 40x66x122mm, but I'd also like something smaller (not shorter) like the 'Wee Fuzz' housing.

Generally my options are rather thin.  I've seen http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250759653483 and the Eddystone range at Maplin but the height seems to low to fit all my bits in.

Also, where do people re comend I get my componets for future builds?  Currently I'm using Bitsbox which is good but somewhat limited.

+ 1 for Rapid, they do most stuff you'll ever need.

markeebee

Also Banzai for more 'specialist' stompboxy stuff, and Farnell for very cheap commonplace bits.

Wonderful!  Thanks guys.

How do people find the shallower cases (30mm tall)?

markeebee

Little bit more expensive, but Banzai have pre-painted ones as well:

Steve's also doing complete 'wrapper' kits - DPDT / 3PDT, switching jack sockets, LED, DC socket, hookup wire etc - all for less than you'd pay were you to source these things out yourself.

All your case components arrive at the same time - so no waiting for your 3PDTs from china or wherever.

I mainly use the 111\60\31 boxes or the 120\95\34 for bigger projects. I usually don't have any problems fitting everything in. I use 20mm dia pots, however from now on Im using 16mm pots from Banzai.
I do tape the circuit board up as I have it 'floating' in the enclosure. I also cut out a sheet of plastic to place on the bottom for further insulation.
I have also stopped putting battery connectors in the pedals I make as I don't need them.

Enclosures sorted.  Gapco were great!

Just doing the big shop for components now.  Trying to source all the parts from as few places as possible to keep shipping down... Didnt realise how long it'd take!  Wish I could buy a 'bumper kit of useful pedal components' rather than hunting individual caps/resisters/transistors, etc.

Anyone know a good source for cheap jacks and potentiometers?  Struggling to find A500k, A250k and B100k on the sites above.

Dr Tweek is good for Pots and jacks!:)

Log is A and Linear is B!:) 70p a pot you cant go wrong really!

Also the ultimate cheap pots is tayda but you will have to wait for shipping!!
