Hey forum I just got one of these pedals worked just fine. No scratchy pot or anything, then replaced the stock LEDs for some bright blue and green ones and it still worked after that, played on it for a little while but i couldnt plug in a regular 9v adaptor because its an older pedal and it uses a 1/8 mono jack so i took it apart and unsoldered the original socket to replace with a 2.1m adaptor jack but wasnt getting no sound and wouldnt turn on so i unsoldered the socket leaving exposed wires and then with probed with the wires from the 9v adaptor and shortly heard a pop from that point the pedal wouldnt turn on. There were 3 leads from the old jack which i applied the power to in various combinations to try and figure out the polarity.

Could someone tell me where to start looking for a burntout component.

So far everthing looks good visually no popped electrolytics or burns. Theres alot of components and a bunch of transistors and ICs.

Ill put up a pic soon.

Maybe it got reverse polarized during the power jack experiments.
Testing the power supply for correct polarity/connections as well as no-shorting-conditions is required for 'safe' operation.
At this point a check-first then apply correct polarity DC test would be worth trying, after that it's to the classic 'debugging, what to do when it doesn't work' routine [sticky thread], otherwise, continuing to depend on luck will probably continue with the same results.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

The thing was is i dont have the original power supply to use as reference.

You can work out the + and - from the battery connection, if it has one.
