Kinda random, but can anyone tell me either where JHS gets their pink pointed knobs from (like on the Bunrunner - http://www.jhspedals.com/jhspedals/Hand_Built.html) or tell me that my eyes need some fixin' because the knobs are actually orange?

I can't find pink anywhere but I swear they look pink in JHS's photos. I really like that color combo but was just curious if they were real or not??

Thanks guys,

nic

Thanks for the link! I'll keep checking back there.

Taylor - do you know where to get Salmon colored knobs or were you just clarifying for me what color they were? BTW, thanks for the delay and Trem boards. Finally got around to building them a year later. They're sweeeeet.

Actually, I don'tthink Tayda carries them...but Small Bear does.

No, sorry, I was just commenting on the color and not really being helpful at all.  :icon_redface:

@ Taylor - haha. That made me laugh.

@ alparent - I didn't see them on Tayda however I did see a few things I liked so it was useful anyway. Thanks!

@ Mark - I checked small bear originally. (Them and PPP are generally where I get stuff) but didn't see that color. However, they may have it and I just missed it, so I'll check again or contact them. Thanks!

Thanks guys, i"ll keep looking. I asked JHS directly but generally in my experience, some pedal builders don't want to give their sources. Which is totally fine when you're making a living off of it.

A lot of the knobs that Small Bear carries are styles/colors made expressly for them.  So if you don't see it, certainly pop Steve Daniels a note.  If there is one thing you can say about SBE, it is that when there is an obvious demand/market for something amongst pedal-makers, Steve will arrange to supply it.

They sure look orange to me.  Small Bear DOES carry them.  Look on page 7 in the knobs section of the Stock List.  There are 5,186 of them in stock for $0.80 a piece.

You might have seen the separate listing for similar knobs on the previous page (black, white, and cream only) and stopped looking.

@kazooman - yeah, that was part of my original question. I couldnt tell if they were orange or "salmon." I definitely can get the orange but i wanted to see if i was being crazy or they actually were a more rare color.

Appreciate all the help! Love this forum.

To be slightly more helpful, I used to work in the field of digital photography and printing. It's the case that computer monitors have vastly different color profiles, not just between different models, but between every single individual monitor of the same model. We had expensive sensors and software just for reading and adjusting the color balance output of each monitor and each printer so that what we were looking at was what would come out of the printer.

Besides that, it's pretty common for people who sell things online to pop them into Photoshop (have to to crop and make the file smaller anyway) and punch up the contrast and colors.

In other words, it probably looks totally different on all of our monitors, and the photo itself may be pretty far from the real life color.

JHS strikes me as using off-the-shelf stuff, but I do know that Frantone had custom colored Davies knobs made for all of her pedals, so it is possible in (large) boutique quantities.

Ok - talked to Steve at Small Bear (super nice guy) and he said he couldn't tell either but he's only ever sold orange. He said he could get pink, or salmon, made but he didnt think the demand is there. (I'd buy 'em though, obviously)

And John from JHS emailed me back this morning and confirmed that they are in fact orange.

So there ya go. Must have been the color correction on some of the images I was viewing. My monitors are color calibrated for print (I work in design) so that, coupled with any correction JHS puts on their images, made it pretty difficult to tell.

Thanks for all the help! But  still think salmon knobs with that blue would be pretty legit.

and @luciferstrip - i did not write them but i think i'm going to. I'm sure they weren't selling great so they stopped having them made.

Well, of course, that would make the "next big step" in DIY dye-them-yourself knobs that would come in a neutral colour, made of absorbent material.  Or perhaps simply uncoloured knobs with a surface that held paint nicely, so any of us could trot over to the car touch-up spray-paint aisle, decide on a colour we like, perch them on some sort of setup with dowelling to hold them up, and paint 'em our favourite colour.

You realize I'm kidding, right?

Taylor

I actually used to paint knobs, with a brush and acrylic paint.  :icon_eek: But it's probably not the look for which most people are aiming.

Pretty much i guess the picture was tweaked to a different profile then we're used to .
Probably Adobe sRGB ?
I am not actually a Desktop LCD panel , actually it's a TV type of set , so i don't have a profile setting :(
EDIT : Seems like it was switched to a certain inkjet printer , i switched to my MX300 printer profile and it turned orange .

As I was walking down the street near work a few weeks ago, I passed a noted Canadian national political reporter on the street.  My first thought upon seeing him in the flesh at close distance was "Cripes, I gotta get a different TV.  I had no idea the guy was THAT blond!".
