Hi all,
A quick question, i'm looking for basically the oposite of the female 2.1mm dc jack that we pedal builders use all the time, the male version, that could me mounted on an enclosure.  I'm building the beavis audio huminator, a power filter, and i would like to plut the DC jack from the power pack, into a female socket, power goes through the huminator, and then the daisey chain cable into another socket -> a male 2.1mm socket...if that makes any sense?

So its basically this, except one that can be mounted on a pedal enclosure:

Thanks for any info!

I don't think it exists, because it would break in a few days of use.

I built an Ultra Clean Power Supply and just tied the DC output wire in a knot as strain relief, pulled the end through a grommet through the side of the Box and soldered a normal male 2.1 mm to it. It does not looks as clean, but if it gets kicked around it won't break.

edit: maybe you want a type of connector that will allow you to click boxes together? Of course then you loose your "standard" 2.1mm plug.

Hey Geertjacobs thanks for the info.  Your suggestion would work for my purposes.  I was hoping for something that was a bit neater but yeah...it may not exist.

You can get recessed male power plugs that have the male pin structure but are recessed into the chassis behind the mounting point.  See this site:

http://www.mode-elec.com/

and click on DC Power Products then an image will come up with a scroll bar on the side.  Scroll down and you will see chassis and PC mounted recessed male power jacks.  Click on the picture you like to get the pin sizes and part number.  If you are in the Toronto area, these are all available at Sayal.  If you want a 2.1 mm chassis-mount recessed male jack with nut mounting, the number is 31-157-0.

No, this is a recessed male jack.  The centre pin is protected by being set back into the housing.  It mates with a female power plug.

Hey amptramp, thanks for the info.  To be honest i'd have to take your word for it being the right one.  I just cant tell from the picture.
I'm not sure how i'm going to track one down as well, i'm in Australia, so it creates a whole new problem.  I'll see if i can find a company that will send it here.  It's probably going to get expensive, story of my life.
Thanks again,
Paul

Actually, was thinking, i could just wire 2 male plugs back to back with a short about of wire, so that i can use the standard female socket on the enclosure...That would keep the enclosure neat, and not have to hack / change the daisy chain.  Thanks for your input guys, you lead me in the right direction.
