just use a pen then... ;D

Well.. i dont know.. maybe i should try out to paint the enclosure by my self to get a flat surface and then try with the sticker method... so what about the t-shirt transfer.. ? is it easy and simple ? can i use it on powder coated enclosure ? does i need clear coat ?

The problem is that we dont have ferric chloride here in country where i am, and there is no similar, etching on aluminum is not very common for home use here, so i am sorry but i cant do that..

That aluminum panel etch process I mentioned is just UV exposure and washes off with regular water - no chemicals! This is safer than trying to etch an enclosure directly with acid. You basically make an etched aluminum sticker instead. Great for labeling and monochrome graphics. Think street signs and assest management tags. Very durable after it cures. This is how they do it.

Go back and read my post on page 1 of this thread. I gave the link and info about getting a free sample pack to try it out.

All kidding aside, a sharpie really is the best, simplest way to label a pedal. It's fast, and gets you back to the important things (like, oh, I dunno, PLAYING THE GUITAR) without wasting several hours with paint, computer design time, etchant, lables, clearcoat, & fixing mistakes. It's also really inexpensive. Seriously, after taking another look at the pictures thread just now, and becoming disheartened at my cheesy looking lables for the umpteenth time, I think I'm just gonna go back to basics, rather than try to compete with some of th pro-looking stuff some of you guys are doing.

Just a question, has anyone tried making up a sandblasting stencil?  It would be like an etch that takes ten seconds and uses no chemicals.  You could also do varying depths, something that would be difficult for etching.

Get yourself a set of permanent markers, like Sharpies:

..and have fun! Oh, sure, it won't look fancy... but so what? Take all the time you saved by not trying to make your pedal look all fancy, and spend that time playing your guitar.  :icon_wink:

DISCLAIMER: No offense meant to all of you who make such awesome looking pedals - hats off to you guys, really. But seriously, is there anything terribly wrong with the above pedals?

nothing wrong with those....i'm just a fancy pantsy poncey fussy bugger... ;D

Looks cool.. :D  but as i said earlier i am about to sell some pedals to my friends and want the pedals to look good.. so..

Ah, then I'd go with the label printer, especially if this is just for friends. Quick & easy, semi-pro looking (if you don't look too close), and not too expensive if you get one of the simpler models.

Yes... and buy un-painted enclosures and paint them by my self.. what paint do u recommend that is simple to use and does not contain any smelly acid or other car-paint substance ?

jefe

Hmm... I'm probably not the best person to answer that. The paints that I've used have all been very smelly. I've been buying pre-painted (powder coated) enclosures lately.

Yes but the bad thing about powder coated enclosures is that the serface is not flat and a sticker will not stick the way it is suppose to do.. :S
