Relays and Normally closed signal to switch on FX???

Hello good people

I'm wondering if anybody has a solution to a problem I'm having.

I have a gigrig midi8 that that has a footswitch output for controlling the fx or channel switching in an amp.
All you do is select one of the footswitches to the footswitch output and connect a standard mono guitar lead to it and it sends a NORMALLY CLOSED signal
and switches the amp channel or fx.
so it is just acting as an amp footswitch.

The problem I'm facing is that I have a large diy FX project that I want to add an external footswitch jack to so that I can switch this effect on and off with the
the footswitch output on the gigrig midi8.

The FX project I'm wanting to control also has a truebypass footswitch.
So how do I get a NORMALLY CLOSED signal to switch on a truebypass FX??
I'm a bit confused.
I've looked into relays and have read all I can on them Including the GEOFX stuff.
I can see how I'd be able to change a Normally open signal to switch the relay but not the other way around.

Can anybody please give me some advice?

Normally open will act like a switch that is open-circuit normally .
Depends on your circuit , if it is digital , and it detects a falling-edge , a normally open with a pull-up would do , but in any case , a tactile with a pull up would do better , if not , the same and cheaper .
I think your relay should have NO or NC pins , i forgot which is which and google isn't helping me
