When I was a noob Fuzz Head, I was shown this and it changed my life.  Don't want to loose track of it, or his other stuff either.  ;)

that's cool....here's another one that can be useful, thanx to Andrew Carrell:

The fuzz was all that I built when I started making boxes! The first four didn't work. Then as I learned they started to sound better and better. I have a few good fuzz designs squirreled away. Maybe we could make this thread kind of a list of beginner level fuzz as to help people avoid trying to build a fuzz factory. I have seen so many trouble shooting post about that thing!

really nice, I tried 2or3 but got some problem,
would like to know what kind of transistors use?, and the value of capacitor?
I tried couple of value of cap and some transistors (bc108,109, 2n5088...) but everytime it's sound.. not so good

anyways thanks for the links :)

I'm french, sorry for mistakes

Just this past week I built a Multi Face with an input cap blend and a selectable "tone cut" switch that adds different caps in paralell with the collector resistor of Q2.  Loaded it up with a 2N3698A and a 2N2222A (if I am remembering correctly).  Does a great fuzz sound and when you back off the gain and the input cap a bit and turn on the tone cut, can get really, really nice OD tones.  Still want to tweak some values though as I noticed that using the input cap blend towards the treble side with the gain full on results not only in less bass but more treble as well - the switchable tone cut helps then.  It also really cleans up the "fuzziness" of it, makes it much more of an overdrive.

I had wanted to add a tone cut knob instead of a switch but I couldn't get it to work properly in the circuit.  The switch works fine, just wish I could get some of those inbetween sounds.

Probably going to add a third knob - thinking a sag control or the pregain control.

But yeah - for a little bit of work, this thing sounds awesome.

It was also helpful in learning to deal with BJT, Jfet, Mostet, etc. transistors and pin-outs, bias, breadboarding etc.
