Hi guys,
Well, i'm new to these things. I'm looking for the most common power supply for pedals. A 9v but what about mA? Which power supply should I buy?

On the future I'll build my own multiple power supply but for now...

Check out the Visual Sound 1spot. Kit comes with power supply, daisy chain and a bunch of adapters. More mA than you'll ever need! :D

I've got three.. ;)

Dang...you beat me to it while I was typing. Definitely give the 1Spot a look. You won't be disappointed.

Visual Spot highly recommended . Don't attempt your own 4Amps power supply unless you're extremely crazy ( or competent )

1 Spot is the snitz. Just picked a couple extras on sale.
An oxymoron - clean transistor boost.

Sorry for the late post. I've been searching around transformers for my power supply.

Well... 1Spot... How does this work? What about 12v pedals? Won't I have problems turning all the pedals on? Let's say I have 8 pedals...

By the way this is really find to hard on Europe. Only with expensive charges.

I know a little about these.

There used to be a 12V 1Spot. I understand ( :icon_wink:) that they didn't sell enough of them to keep making them. What pedals do you have that HAVE to have 12V?

The 1Spot is sold at dealers throughout Europe. There's a dealer list on the company web site. There isn't much that can be done about governments charging oppressive taxes, but the base price all over the world before import duties, tariffs, taxes, fees, yada, yada is about $20-30 USD. Nothing much the company can do about governments wanting a piece of the profits.

The 1Spot plugs into the AC power supply. They come with different plugs to fit wall sockets all over the world, but the insides are all the same, only the plugs are different. They supply 9v nominal, actually as close to the open circuit voltage of an alkaline battery as they can get; it's a fraction of a volt higher. It supplies this voltage into any current  from 0ma up to 1700ma. At a bit more than 1700ma it decides that Something Bad is happening and shuts itself off to protect whatever is connected, and itself. It tries to come back into operation about once per second from then on, shutting back down if Something Bad is still there.

A single 1Spot was found (accidentally!) supply about 200 pedals one time. It had no problem with that. 8 pedals won't even make it take a deep breath.

Each 1Spot is individually tested at the end of the manufacturing line by a listening test powering a particularly easy-to-interfere-with high gain distortion pedal to see that they do not make it whine, hum, or otherwise sound bad.

Other than that, they're nothing special.   :icon_lol:

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
