I have someone who wants a 8-10 channel true bypass looper. I can't find a long enough enclosure anywhere. The longest I've seen is 12" on pedalpartsplus. Anyone know where I can get something closer to 20"?

you could try rack mount enclosures their 17.5" or so but typically expensive.

What about getting U shaped extrusions and then holding it together with endplates.

I believe there were Bud miniboxes in that size, but they would be very flimsy for a stompbox - they might bend and they would definitely have an audible clang when you stepped on them, but you could brace them internally near the switches, so it could work.  You may be able to get rectangular steel pipe or aluminum extrusions like waveguides for which you would have to make end caps.  I doubt you will find a standard product off the shelf.

do a google image search for extruded aluminium enclosure. just click through the pics til you find one that does custom cut length.

Yeah, looks like I'll have to make something. That was the conclusion I was starting to come to but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. No big deal, shouldn't be too tough. Thanks guys!

you could check out some of the Hammond sloped enclosures, some go to 20" wide ... no idea on prices.

See "Steel Studs" at geofex.com

I just bought a 12' length of 1.625" by 3.625" section 16Ga stud for $12. It has five 21" clear sections in it.

Online metals has extruded aluminum tube 1/8" thick and 2" by 4" section for about $20 for a 3' piece. It's been a while since I looked up the exact price. The problem here is that you'll have to cut out a slot in one of the wide faces to get into it, then have to fab a cover for the part you cut out.

For both of them, you'll have to make end pieces. I like finished hardwood slabs for this, but metal is possible and probably simpler and cheaper.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

If you're in the U.S. you might try contacting this chassis builder, does customs and has a couple gauges of aluminum to choose from. Haven't used him (doesn't ship international) but have read lots of good about him and his work.

Bud Industries makes a 12" long one. http://www.budind.com/view/Small+Metal+Electronics+Enclosures/Miniboxes

I've seen a looper pedal website once that appeared to be using these very same enclosures.

Pedalpartsp;lus has the 12" too but I think that'd be a bit ight for 10 channels. I just went to menards, they have a 3' piece of right angle aluminum, nice and thick, only $15. I think I'll go that route and build the bottom and sides with a nice wood. I'll post pics of course if he decides to fund it :)
Thanks everyone! I'm def. gonna hold onto some of those links for future things. I liked the look of that chassis builder, seemed very reasonable.
