Little Gem Question

I just finished a little gem when I realized that I bought the wrong value capacitor for the .047 cap on the output.  Instead of a .047, I got a .0047.  What will happen if I use the .0047?  I went back to the store to get the correct value, but they were out of the one I needed and I want to see what this project sounds like.

Can I use a .0047 instead of a .047 capacitor?

it will reduce bass response based on the load, since this is on the output stage that load is small and the high impedance of the amp feeding it, I do not see much of a noticeable change. IF you think the amp is on the bright side you could lower it.

ok so a stupid question:  A .0047 is higher than a .047?  So a larger number is "lower" giving more bass response.  I guess that makes sense.  I bet a .01 would be a ton more bass.

Think of capacitors as how much bass goes through any given circuit.  Smaller numbers let less bass through, larger numbers let more bass through.  .0047 is smaller than .047, and both of those are smaller than .01 or .1 or 1

Smaller = less bass
Bigger = more bass

p.s. Exactly how much bass depends on the components following the capacitor.  But it is sufficient to know that .0047 will let less bass through than .047 in the same circuit.

That is not a bass-response cap.

Some circuits, especially Power amps, like to sing radio-waves. The 10 ohm resistor load damps all tendency to sing. The 0.05 cap blocks the resistor in the audio band so the audio is un-damped but the radio-band is damped.

This R-C network is not always needed. Go ahead and run without the cap. It may be fine, it may be a little squirrely.
When the store has stock of 0.1u or 0.047u caps, try one and see if it is better.
