Hi.

Im trying to debug my crunch box clone. Schematics http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/7144/crunchboxschemfinalv2gf2.jpg

When i tried first i hade no sound, bypass worked though.

This is my 5th stompbox and the second one i've run into trouble with.
So i started to probe it.

I not sure exactly how the probing works. I've pluged the guitar to stompbox input and the probe to the amp input.

I get sound to the first cap (C1) and then silent. I tried replacing the cap twice. But still dead silent. Then i remove the cap lead, that goes to R1, from the pcb. Then i got sound on that cap lead, when i was solder to the board it was dead silent.

So can it be a short circuit after the C1?

Would a short circuit kill all sound?

Pictures? Crunch Box is a real easy build shouldn't be hard to spot...
Doesn't matter what you did to get it... If it sounds good, then it is good!

Absolutely - especially if it were to ground.  Continuity meter is also a helpful debugging tool - it can be used to determine if your signal path is grounded out at any point.

If you had an ohm meter you could tell us some measurements to ground on those input components for example.

What exactly do you mean by "and probe to the amp input" ? Is it the Opamp input? what pin number?
I would measure first all the circuit volt reading so I could know which should have or should be 0v reading. There you'll find if something or somewhere is shorted or maybe grounded.
