Just noticed that http://www.beavisaudio.com/ is unavailable, looks like the domainname expired yesterday.  :icon_cry:

"...and weird on top!"

Looks like someone forgot to pay their domain renewal fee. :icon_redface:

Simple fix.

How much would a site like that cost to host? Ballpark figures, I honestly have no idea.

Andrew.

About $40-50 a year.

It is more than likely an oversight on his part, but if it does not get addressed soon, that name beavisaudio.com can go to auction and someone else can pick it up a use it. I know because I made that same mistake....once.

Just made a donation. Dano's site is a great one - informative, and very approachable for beginners. I always liked his freewheelin' and experimental attitude. Hope it stays going.

I have learned a TON from his site and hope it does come back. I would be willing to make a contribution towards it.

I'll just quote this here for convenience (from the post Rick linked):

Quote from: Dano @ BeavisMuch like the U.S. Congress, it turns out that yours truly can't balance the budget.

Keeping the hosting, site and email bills paid is somewhat problematic here at beavis world HQ. Back in the day, disposable cash kept the skids greased and the sites (both beavisaudio.com and beavishifi.com) rolling forward. After all these years, I'm going to ask you, the humble and brave reader, to consider donating to beavis--if you are so inclined, your small contribution will keep the site live and up and running while I sort out a mountain of crap.

Have an extra dollar? Hiding $85,000 dollars in your mattress? Just won the lottery? If this is you, please consider a small donation to the beavis ideology. Send your non-tax-deductible bit-o-cash to dano@beavisaudio.com via PAYPAL (sorry, I'm not set up to do anything else right now...) All funds will be used to pay the hosting/server bills.

candletears7

Can't we all chip in for this to be kept up and running? Dano, are you hearing this bro?

mattthegamer463

Sent him a fiver.  Good site, if he needs a bit of help I say its a good idea.

Along with this forum, Beavis played an instrumental part in helping me along in the pedal building process...we should support him.

Um, just to be sure.....because I don't know how these things work......

If the site's down, is it likely that the associated email is also mullered? So, if I send a Paypal donation to the @beavisaudio.com address, will Dano be able to receive it?

guitarmageddon

When I heard about this earlier today, the same thought occured to me, so I test-sent a small donation.
Unfortunately, so far, PayPal tells me it's unclaimed :icon_sad:
Is anyone here able to directly contact to him?
There's a dude over at BYOC who has offered to host the material for free...

He'll get them, just won't be notified of the donation. The PayPal account will still be accessible.

I'll send him a few dollars as soon as I'm at my computer (say six hours from now), on the phone right now and don't like navigating PayPals site with the phone browser.

Keep this site live and ad free, donate a dollar or twenty (and add this link to your sig)

Done. And as an added benefit, you get to learn Dano's real name.
